Ongoing Activities
Our congregation participates in a number of activities that
nurture our congregation, our community and our environment.
Ladies Aid
Through their rummage sales and quilting projects, the
Ladies Aid raises funds for a variety of needs within the
church and community, including a new refrigerator for the
church and scholarships for Camp Johnsonburg. They also make
prayer shawls for those going through difficult times,
especially people undergoing cancer treatment.
Choir
Our choir is directed by David Scott
who was Newton High School's chorus director for 30 years.
He is a gifted vocalist and musician. We have a dedicated
choir who performs at the 10:00 service from September to
June. The choir also performs a cantata each Christmas
season. New voices are always welcome.
Yellow Frame has a rich history of over 250 years. Our
church's historical group endeavors to maintain our records,
promote our history and preserve our artifacts. The Church
Society was formed in 1936 and their aim was, and still is,
“to maintain a history and heritage too precious to be lost
by changing conditions.” Click here to read the full
history of Yellow Frame.
Yellow Frame Church Society
Yellow Frame is a member of the New Jersey Adopt-a-Highway
program, and we maintain the stretch of Route 94 near our
church. In the spring and fall our members spend a Saturday
morning doing a clean-up and enjoying the scenery and
camaraderie.
Manna House
House is the area’s ecumenical soup kitchen, based in the
First Presbyterian Church in Newton. Yellow Frame provides a
corps of volunteers to assist with preparing and serving the
meals once a month. Those who volunteer invariably report it
is a rewarding experience.
Adopt a Highway
Each summer a number of Yellow Frame members participate in
Kittatinny Canoes’ annual Delaware River Clean-up. Our group
joins in the effort to remove trash that accumulates in the
river over time. Not only do we have a fun day out on the
river, but we are also serving as stewards of our
environment.
