What is a
Typical Sunday Like?
Sunday Services are at 8:30 am and 10:00 am.
The 8:30 service
lasts 30 minutes and is an abbreviated version of the 10:00
service. It has no choir or congregational singing, although the
sermon is the same for both services. It is more meditative in
nature and communion is served each week. This service is
attractive to those who need to be elsewhere later on a Sunday
morning, or who like an early start to their day, or who prefer
this style of worship service.
The
10:00 service
is traditional and includes the choir, congregational singing,
prayers, children’s sermon (Sept.-May), sharing our joys and
concerns, and a sermon.
The children are with their parents for the first part of
the service before being dismissed to Sunday school with their
teachers. While the
service is liturgical in format, the atmosphere is open and
informal. People are welcome to come as they are; some prefer to
dress up, some prefer to be casual.
Communion is served on special liturgical days, usually adding
up to six times each year.

Following the service, we have a coffee hour in our fellowship
hall, which is a highlight in our church. It’s a great time to
connect with one another over great baked goods and coffee.
Throughout the year we also have a senior breakfast and potluck
luncheons that allow more time for friendships to be nurtured.
Sunday School
Children are a blessing and a joy, and we have many in our
congregation. Our service is family-friendly and it usually
includes a children’s message. Just before the sermon begins
kids from kindergarten through high school leave for Sunday
School. We also have a staffed nursery for infants and toddlers.

Handicapped Facilities
Our church is accessible through a handicapped ramp located
through a side entrance which is easy to locate. Renovations are
underway for a handicapped accessible restroom to be available
in the coming months.
Prospective
Members
We receive new members two times a year, spring and fall. We
follow this schedule to encourage people to get to know us prior
to joining. So come, rub elbows with us, and talk with us for a
few months. New member classes are announced, and the process
includes dialogues with Rev Nelms by whatever means is suitable
to each person’s needs, and can be via e-mail, mail, phone, or
in person.
Prospective members learn “Presbyterian 101” and more about
Yellow Frame. Then prior to New Member Sunday, new members meet
with our governing body, the Session, to make their membership
official.
